School Profile

Serene Hills Elementary School (SHE) is a positive learning environment geared to meet the varied academic, behavioral, social, and emotional needs of our students. Teachers, staff, parents, and community volunteers support students in developing self-esteem, problem-solving skills, leadership qualities, and a passion for life-long learning.

Language arts, math, science, social studies, and technology skills are addressed in alignment with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) as required by law. Teachers are trained to differentiate instruction to address students’ individual strengths and weaknesses. Training includes, but is not limited to the following: formative assessment, summative assessment, small group guided instruction, Authentic Learning Experiences, Workshop model and enrichment strategies.

SHE is launching our Across Campus Enrichment (ACE) program this fall where every student will explore a passion they have within the school day. Faculty members team up to teach clusters such as singing, SHE Ninja Warrior fitness course, art, running, STEM, theater, Lego architecture, cooking, sewing and much more. We want our students to be passionate about exploring talents; have opportunities to try out new skills and fail safely; and connect with staff to know they are supported at school. There will be eight sessions in the fall and eight different sessions in the spring. ACE starts September 27 and will be Friday mornings right after the bell. The ACE program is generously sponsored by the Lake Travis Education Foundation (LTEF) and PTO.

On a rotating basis, the campus offers art, music, and physical education. Students also access technology, media resources, Discovery Maker space, STEM activities, recess, the outdoor garden classroom and counseling support. Students are also offered opportunities to engage in the following: Student Council (3rd-5th), Recycling, Safety Patrol (5th) and Enrichment Classes after school.
